Halloween Haunts

11/16/2017

We were so excited to be part of Dover-Foxcroft’s Halloween festivities this year. Little did we know that candy for 400 just wasn’t going to cut it!!

We had hordes of ghouls and goblins stop by to say hello. There was so much imagination and time put into the costume and makeup designs. Please take a moment to enjoy as I did… and next year we’ll be ready … with candy for 1,000!

Until next time,
Joy

October 2017 Look What's New ...

10/23/2017

Wow, it's been awhile!  So much has changed and I have news to share.....  As many of you know by now, I closed the Parkman store in January and began making preparations for the move to Dover Foxcroft.  This was a difficult decision and bitter sweet.  To my Parkman neighbors and to those who supported my business there, my gratitude is heartfelt.   Ultimately the decision to relocate the shoppe was one of necessity for better visibility and location.  I sincerely hope that this will prove a convenience for everyone.  Chloe's Collections Florist and Gift Shoppe is now located at 1 North Street in Dover Foxcroft.......across the street from Wills Shop.n.Save.  Please stop by and check out our amazing new refrigerated display and showroom.  We had a ribbon cutting on June 1st and I have posted related pics...great food...and great company!!  Thank You Dover Foxcroft for your endearing welcome!

Everyone knows that time stands still for no-one and such was the case with Prom Season in May.  I was still painting, cleaning, moving and tripping over boxes, but.....the guys still came in for Tuxedo measurements, selection and final fittings!  We had a great time and as I am now centrally located,  they were amazed to drive by well into the night and see me burning the midnight oil....literally, to make sure each couple had the flowers of their choice.  All of these kids (FA, PCHS....and Greenville!) looked red carpet ready.  Thanks to ALL of you for your patience.

Weddings......where do I start??  Congrats to Russ and Jamie....Matt and Dan .....,  Jennifer and Gordon.... Sarah and Tyler.... Shelby and Anthony.... Stacey and Chris.... Jamie and Corey.... Melissa and Ryan.... Dillen and Clark.... Marleah and Ricky.... Randi and Phil....  Erica and Chris.... Harmony and William......I so enjoyed working with each and every couple to bring to fruition their ideas for their special day and lasting memories. Thank you ALL for trusting me with this monumental task.

People often ask me how long I have worked with flowers.  I studied floral design at FL Art Institute after an incredibly rewarding 28 yr Nursing career in Oncology.  I started my business when my first born Grandchild (Chloe) was two weeks old....she just turned 16 in August!!  Seeing someone's face light up with the gift of flowers is always heart warming and especially on a Sunday morning!!......Yes, still delivering SEVEN days a week!

The shoppe will be gearing up for the holidays soon and I hope to see old and new friends come in.  Don't forget for those friends and loved ones who are away.....order FTD, Teleflora or Flowershop Network with a myriad of choices to fit any budget.

Check out the Beautiful Handmade Quilt on display here for raffle.  The ladies at East Sangerville Union Church made it and asked if I would help them out with space.  Stop in to purchase tickets to win, the Quilt...or $100.00 Hannaford Gift Card...or $100.00 Haley Construction Gift Card...or a $50.00 Gas Gift Card...or a Fresh Cut Christmas Tree...or a Holiday Centerpiece (yeah, that's mine!) and more.  Nine prizes in all with the drawing on December 1st.  Tickets are $1.00 ea or $5.00 for a book of SIX!!

Have you all heard about Coach Luis Ayala leading the NATION in votes to be the winner of a $50,000.00 grant for the Sports department at FA??  If you do not know this incredibly humble and giving man, just ask any student who has or is participating in one of his sports teams, camps or pick-up games.  He is Coach, Dad, Husband (and more), but to all of these kids (and their families) he is an amazing role model and friend who ALWAYS finds the positive to comment on and share.  How lucky we are to have such a great guy in our midst!  The voting for this accolade...."Most Valuable Coach" and Prize goes until November 14th....Vote online at www.themostvaluablecoach.com......vote EVERY DAY!

I need to get back to work.  I will try to be more diligent in sharing with you all.  Caving to peer and Grandchild prodding, you will soon be able to find me on FB.....Yes I am a dinosaur!!  My best to all of you for a great day and thanks for taking the time to catch up with me.

Wounded Warrior Project Update

5/1/2016

Wounded Warrior Project  has and hopefully will continue to be a life line to Veterans who have selflessly put themselves in harms way for the protection and security of our country.  It is so easy to take for granted  our freedoms and life styles while giving little thought to the men and women in uniform who are ensuring these privileges be the norm for generations to come.  As you know, I have been a staunch supporter of WWP and while I will ALWAYS support our returning Veterans, I need (like so many Americans) to have additional information regarding this charity to guarantee that the funds donated are in fact being used to support our wounded Veterans and their families.  PLEASE continue to support these men and women and their families thru proven charities....and simple acts of kindness.  Have a great day!  Joy

Winter/Spring 2015 Updates!

PictureParker....what a cutie!
2014.....has come and gone, with memories both happy and bittersweet.  We look forward to a bright and prosperous new year with the anticipation of a young child on Christmas morning.  With the decline in fuel prices we find ourselves venturing out alittle more often and spending with less apprehension.  Lets hope we continue to see a reprieve from an economy that has been financially crippling for many.

Weddings were many last summer and I'd like to give a nod to those I was lucky enough to be involved with:

Aaron & Chelsea, who chose a very laid back approach and made the occasion more about their guests...on Friday the 13th no less!!

Kayla and TJ...Wow!  Some of the best photo-ops I have seen set up, and ALL still inviting and casual.  Thank You Dora for really cracking that whip!  I've outfitted my first four-legged Ring Bearer...a Great Dane!  This couple was great fun to work with.

Briana & Ryan partied with family and friends against a beautiful Mt. Kineo backdrop.  "Best Dressed" award went to their Ring Bearer, Parker.....what a cutie! (See picture above)

Grace & Josh happily dodged raindrops to share their special day with those nearest and dearest.  Grace was married by her Father and in the church where she grew up, making this day even that more memorable.

Patty & Todd...while all planning was done via internet and phone, I felt like we had known each other for years when we met...three days before the wedding!!  Everything went off without a hitch and was absolutely beautiful.  You can share their special day with a peek at our wedding testimonial page.

To ALL the young couples, I wish you long and happy unions and hope to see you again soon!!

I would like to acknowledge and thank ALL who shared my passion for Wounded Warrior Project support on Veterans Day.  For those who came to the shoppe for some "retail therapy" as well as those who dropped the change from their morning coffee at KC's and Bears Den, I applaud your patriotism and generosity.  We raised $192. and Congratulations to June Page of Dexter who won the Fresh Floral arrangement for her Thanksgiving table.  We will be hosting additional activities in support of the the Men and Women who continue to "Protect and Serve" all of us!

With the New Year came our first Wedding of the season.  Allyson and Garrett shared their memory packed day with friends and family....their reception venue exquisitely decorated.  Working with Patty, I was overwhelmed by her tenacious spirit as she simutaniously traveled her own journey.

Valentines Day was a great time for catching up with repeat customers.....and meeting new ones.  Congratulations to James Folsom....winner of the Sweetheart Gift Basket.  To ALL the Special Lady recipients, I hope you enjoyed your flowers as much as I did when arranging them!!

On February 2nd, Parkman lost a gentle and compassionate soul.  "JR" Rollins was a Son, a Brother, an Uncle and most importantly....a Dad.  JR played the hand he was dealt with dignity and courage....never complaining and ALWAYS with a smile and "hello" for everyone.  Conrad and Vicki Rollins are synonymous with "community".....let us ALL wrap our hearts around them in the spirit of community, if not to lessen their pain then to atleast allow them to know we share their loss.  Our love and prayers to the Rollins family.

On that note and until next time....Be well....Stay warm (huh!!)....and count your blessings....not your problems!!

Happy New Year One & All

Looking ahead to 2014 we can only hope for a better economy and health and good fortune for all.....well we can HOPE!!  2013 was difficult and I personally am still reeling from some of the situations that affected me here but I am humbled by the kindness and understanding of friends I have gained here in Maine.

We finished out the year with our Victorian Tea & Shopping Soiree and that was alot of fun.  Congratulations to Janet, Nanette and Jeri who won Door Prizes.  A special Thank You to Kate and Diana for their help.

We also had our first Red Hat Sisters Luncheon and Holiday Shopping Event and a great time.  These ladies traveled atleast an hour to get here and all were in Red Hat form.  We were joined by Stu from the Observer and I think he enjoyed himself as well.  Lunch was good and the dessert even better!!  One group who wanted to be here but was afraid of the drive is from Orono.  The Queen Bee asked that perhaps we would consider a Summertime outdoor luncheon.....they don't mind driving in good weather.  I think we will work on making this happen.

I have to take a moment to shower my Grandchildren with praise...(bear with me!).  Chloe has just won the Geography Bee for PCSS, she is the first girl to do so and she will now test for state level.  Chloe has also been nominated for National Junior Honor Society and continues to maintain High Honors grade levels.  Sabrina decided she wanted to play chess....and has become quite the opponant, playing to a draw with her computer.....and Dad!!  Sabrina is always ready to help and enjoy new things and I love watching the person she is becoming.  My only Grandson is hillarious and just like his Dad.  Its great to see how completely instride they are as they take on one project or another.  I can't wait to see what future interests he will have.  You guessed it, I love them all dearly and just wanted to share with you what keeps me moving forward.

Thats all for now.  Stay warm and healthy.   Joy.

.....Congratulations Becky and Henry!
.....Sabrina the Junior Entrepreneur, "Banking" on Origami and Blackberries....You Go Girl!!
.....Sending special thoughts to Nancy as we all miss "Ping".

Leaf Peeper Sundays were a lot of fun this year. I met some very interesting tourists....and locals, as they sampled donuts and cider while checking out the shoppe.

Brainstorming for fundraising ideas for the PCSS Washington DC trip in April.  Chloe will be going this year.  A Special Thank You to Joyce and Jolene for their support. I loved the quilt Nanette made for raffle....she ALWAYS puts in the time and effort.

Lots of fun events planned for the Holidays....will keep you updated.  Stay warm and wishing you all a Happy Holiday Season!          Joy.

Spring

Happy Spring....one and all!!  I don't know about you, but I'm
definitely feeling some muscle defiance with spring cleaning under way.
There's something truly therapeutic about working in the gardens and getting
your hands dirty.  Everywhere I look there is new life popping up.

I've been following the advertising/promotions for the Piscataquis Balloon
Festival, it really looks like they are pulling out all the stops to make this a
memorable and socially stimulating event.  I went up for a ride in AZ and
I can tell you its an experience you'll never forget.  I hope we have great
weather and an even greater turn out......Something new and exciting for
everyone to enjoy!

For all of you still holding coupons from the Cash Mob.....they are good
until June 30th.  A special Thank You to all who attended....lots of new
faces!  I was happy to be able to make the donation to the Aliza Jean
Family Cancer Foundation.  The kick-off concert for the foundation was
amazing.  I know they will be of great comfort to families in need.

Stop by soon....I'll stay in touch!
